The York High School winter track teams steamrolled through the first meet of the New Year as the girls scored 281.5 points and the boys scored 367 points in a six-team meet at the University of Southern Maine.
It was the second highest point total for the girls, while it was the boys highest scoring meet.
The girls defeated Gray-New Gloucester (111), Freeport (73), Cape Elizabeth (72), Lake Region (52) and Boothbay (6).
The boys defeated Gray-New Gloucester (93), Lake Region (63), Cape Elizabeth (52), Freeport (30) and Boothbay (19).
Griffin Bean won the pole vault in a school record mark of 12 feet. Phoebe Slovenski won the pole vault and broke the school sophomore record (9 feet, 1 inch). Caleb Pappagallo broke his own freshman 200 record (25.31) and won the 55.
Ben Hay won the high jump and Grace Beecher won the 55; both qualified for next month’s state meet.
Winning senior girls included Abi Kavanaugh (shot put), Erin O’Donnell (high jump), Grace Gear (mile, 2 mile) and Anabel Santini (triple jump).
Erika Waterbury, Beecher, O’Donnell and Smith won the senior relay. Smith leads the upperclassmen girls with 48.5 points.
Winners for the senior boys included Jon Rodrigues (long jump, triple jump, 55), Jon Burke (hurdles), Nick Rainforth (200, 400) and Griffin McNamara (mile). Trevor Lavigne, Rainforth, Bean and Rodrigues won the senior relay. Rodriques leads the team with 58.5 points this season.
Junior girl winners were Lilly Goldberg (55), Lexi Brent (200, hurdles, 400) and Juliet Regonini (long jump). Brent, Chipi, Goldberg, Regonini won the junior relay. Brent leads the underclassmen with 48.5 points.
Quenton Convery (400), Rhys Evans (hurdles, high jump) and Connor Daley (shot put) won their junior events. Hunter Henriksen, Convery, Evans and Pappagalo won the junior relay. Convery leads the underclassmen with 39.5 seasonal points.
York takes on Greely, Cape Elizabeth, North Yarmouth, St. Doms and Lake Region on Friday at 6:30 p.m. at USM. Full results and info can be found on the youth pages, indoor track section of www.sub5.com.
