Refinishing school furniture

The mission of the Seacoast Community School is to provide quality child care and to be responsive to the child care needs of the Seacoast region. Seacoast Community Schools is a private, non-profit organization that has been providing quality child care since 1967. Accredited by the National Association of Young Children (NAEYC) in 2008, the school has provided a loving, nurturing and stimulating quality educational environment promoting school readiness for thousands of children from the Maine-New Hampshire Seacoast. For several decades the school has provided excellent, developmentally-appropriate early childhood education and is staffed with highly qualified professionals who motivate and challenge children to imagine, create, achieve and learn and strive for personal success. The Center is open year round, serving children ages 8 weeks to 12 years. Full and part-time care is available from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, and 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. at our Before and After School programs. At Seacoast Community School, children grow and develop in a curriculum that enhances each child's self esteem. Currently, Seacoast Community School seeks volunteers to help with refinishing classroom furniture. Join volunteers in sanding down and re-staining furniture that needs some sprucing up.

Female resident companion

The mission of A House for ME is to create safe, supported living situations that enable people with disabilities to fully integrate themselves into their local community. Their vision is to create a community where people with disabilities live and work as participating members. A House for ME provides safe, supported housing for people with intellectual disabilities that involves them in their communities as participating members. Currently at A House for ME, a woman is needed to reside in Kittery Foreside with a young woman and provide support to assist her in community living. The assistance includes help with meals, laundry and household tasks, but does not require any personal care. Currently, there is one resident, but potentially there may be two or a maximum of three. The Resident Companion position is a part-time live-in role critical to the mission of A House for ME. In addition to serving as an important on-site presence in the evening, this person will also provide meaningful companionship and assistance during key parts of the day to three adult residents who are capable of living independently, yet benefit from other support and guidance to ensure safety and success. The schedule will be flexible, negotiable, and rewarding. Compensation includes free rent plus an excellent opportunity to become involved and engaged in encouraging independence for individuals with special needs. Desired qualifications: experience or education in human services (OT/PT/SW/Nursing/Education) ; current students in these or related fields are also strong candidates. Senior Center looking for special skills

The mission of the City of Portsmouth’s Senior Services is to connect older adults in the Portsmouth area to activities, programs and resources that are healthy and helpful. All seniors are welcome to visit the senior activity center for a complimentary cup of coffee and conversation or take a fitness class or enjoy a lecture, lunch or field trip. The Portsmouth Senior Services Department manages a Senior Activity Center at Community Campus, creates a monthly "Senior News" newsletter, and connects seniors to activities, programs and resources. The City of Portsmouth’s Senior Services is currently seeking people who can teach a class, workshop, lecture, field trip or any other enriching opportunity. If you have a special skill or talent, or have a vast amount of knowledge about a specific topic you would like to share, this is the perfect opportunity for you! The Portsmouth’s Senior Services membership is a group of vibrant seniors who are always looking for new things to do. The senior center is open Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Some evening and weekend programs as well. Anyone interested will be required to fill out a volunteer application and interview. Meet and greet visitors at the center

The mission of the Seacoast African American Cultural Center is to celebrate the lives and achievements of black people with emphasis on the unique story of African Americans in the Seacoast region, and to infuse all people, especially young people, with knowledge of and appreciation for the history and culture we all share. The Seacoast African American Cultural Center has been established on the Seacoast since 2000. This opportunity is to join their regular staff of volunteers who greet visitors in a friendly and pleasant manner, explain the purpose of the center, and provide information about all current exhibits. Volunteers also encourage visitors to sign guest book on pedestal next to desk. All volunteers will receive an in-person orientation to SAACC and review of your volunteer duties.
