NEWINGTON ó Police are investigating what appeared to be a self-inflicted shotgun death of a Dover man found in a pickup truck in a mall parking lot, said Police Chief Michael Bilodeau.
The chief said a woman reported seeing the man slumped over inside the truck in a parking lot between Barnes & Noble and Jared Jewelers at the The Crossings shopping center. The report was made July 6 at about 10:30 p.m., the woman called 911 and fire and police personnel responded, Bilodeau said.
All of the mall stores were closed at the time and the area was cordoned off to begin an investigation, according to the chief. The man was identified as being a 23-year-old Dover resident and police have not yet notified all his next of kin, Bilodeau said.
An investigation remains ongoing to include reviewing video surveillance images and the man's whereabouts during the last 24 hours of his life, the chief said. The public was not and is not in any danger in connection with the incident, the chief assured.
