To the Editor:
Please don’t let this happen!
An agreement is being proposed to give away, among other land, “approximately 80 acres” of prime, undeveloped land worth millions of dollars in the heart of York Village that is owned by “the inhabitants of York.” This valuable land is behind our Town Hall (land also owned by the inhabitants of York) and runs from York Street all the way to the Little River, is parallel to the Davis land, and abuts Coastal Ridge Elementary School. At the same time, the inhabitants will possibly be asked to vote on spending millions of dollars to purchase the Davis land. Obviously, something is amiss!
I urge you to let the Board of Selectmen know you oppose giving away a valuable asset and that this agreement must not be pursued. You can voice this at any selectmen's meeting, via e-mail, or by phone: Todd Frederick, 251-3718; Robert Palmer, 363-3292; Mike Estes, 363-4172; Liz Blanchard, 351-8887; Marilyn McLaughlin, telephone not listed by town.
