WELLS ? On March 6, two Wells Junior High School students were recognized by the Wells-Ogunquit CSD School Committee for their success in the 2019 WJHS Spelling Bee. Eighth grade student Madison Smith won the contest with the word “ricotta” and seventh grade student Sam Coleman finished as runner-up. Twelve students participated in this annual event held in February in the Ward Gymnasium.

Presenting a certificate of recognition for exemplary achievement to Smith and Coleman at the committee meeting was Superintendent Jim Daly and Committee Chair Helena Ackerson.

At the York County Spelling Bee on February 15 at the Sanford Christian Academy, Coleman placed third and Smith finished in sixth place.
