SOUTH BERWICK, Maine — Police have arrested a man who is a lifetime registrant on the Maine Sex Offender Registry for allegedly inappropriately touching a child last week.
Linwood P. Reeves, 71, of South Berwick, was arrested Sunday evening on a warrant charging him with unlawful sexual contact, a Class B felony, according to a statement released Tuesday by the South Berwick Police Department.
Police began their investigation on March 6 when a complaint was lodged against Reeves alleging he inappropriately touched a 7-year-old child through clothing, police said. Reeves was familiar with the child and the incident occurred at Reeves’ Finson Road address, police said.
Reeves was transported to York County Jail. He was arraigned on Monday, and bail was set at $7,500.
Due to a 1985 conviction in Maine, Reeves is a lifetime registrant on the state Sex Offender Registry.
