PORTSMOUTH — Public works crews will be removing trees in the area across the street from the USS Albacore Museum, spanning the Sarah Mildred Long Bridge and Michael Succi Drive, starting in February, the city announced Monday. The work is part of the Phase 2 improvement plan for the Market Street corridor.
Plans include a public park area to allow for better use and views of the riverfront, the city statement says. The Parks and Greenery team are removing trees this time of year to reduce the chances of disturbing the soils in the area as the ground is currently frozen. This public park project will go out to bid soon with the expectation to start constructing the park and renovating the landscape this summer.
