Wells resident Wolfgang "Wolfie" Woischke was recently inducted into the University of Bridgeport Athletics Hall of Fame in Bridgeport, Conn.

Woischke was born in Germany and raised on Long Island and he graduated from the University of Bridgeport in 1972. He helped the men's soccer team reach the NCAA national tournament twice, he was a team captain, and he was selected as the team's most valuable player in his senior season.

He was selected to the 1970 New England Intercollegiate Soccer League all-star team and was named to the NCAA All New England team.

After graduating he played professionally for the Connecticut Yankees and he coached a high school to five indoor soccer championships. He moved back to Germany where he played and coached (leading an amateur team to titles in four different seasons during the 1990s). He was also a part of the 2006 Germany World Cup team, serving as a Senior Executive. He is also a member of the Mitchell College, Port Washington High School, Connecticut Soccer and New England Soccer Halls of Fame.
