KENNEBUNK — The Kennebunk Land Trust has appointed former development and administrative manager Sarah Stanley as the organization’s new director, following the retirement of executive director Gordon Collins.

Collins is retiring after two and a half years as director after previously serving on the trust’s board of directors. He says he will support KLT and devote more of his time to the Maine Master Naturalist Program, where he is a board member.

“I won’t be idle I can tell you that, I’ll be in the the community. Sarah will do a very good job, and the board will give her support through the transition,” Collins said.

Stanley is a native of southern Maine, and has a deep commitment to the state through her interest in the environment and conservation. A Bates College graduate with a background in Environmental Studies, Politics, and Geology, Stanley is also a Registered Recreational Maine Guide, is certified in CPR and Wilderness First Aid, and holds a private pilot’s license and seaplane rating.

In her previous role at KLT, Stanley led the organization’s outreach efforts, creating new programs that encouraged partnerships with local businesses as well as connections with larger companies, like Google, to establish new ways to interact with the public and promote community conservation. She also worked to increase KLT’s fundraising efforts through both grants and events.

Stanley said she is excited to establish new relationships with members, strengthen existing relationships, and continue to work toward achieving the trust’s mission of preserving and stewarding land to benefit both natural and human communities.

“I’m very excited and eager to get to work,” Stanley said. “I want to continue to build on the relationships we have and find new connections. We’ve always had an open door policy here, so if someone has questions or has a new idea they’d like to share, we’d love to hear from them.”

Volunteers and new members are always needed to help the Kennebunk Land Trust thrive. Visit www.kennebunklandtrust.org or call Sarah at the KLT office at 207-985-8734 for more information.
