SANFORD ó† University of New England Professor of Anthropology and Archeology Dr. Arthur Anderson will present a program on Thursday, Jan. 17† at 7 p.m. at the Sanford-Springvale Historical Museum, summarizing the results of this past summerís effort to locate the circa 1744 fortification built in South Sanford.

Dr. Anderson will go over the regimen that was followed to conduct the survey, as well as the post-dig process used to clean and identify the artifacts found. In addition, he will present a formal report to the City of Sanford about the dig along with his conclusions as it was sponsored by both the Historical Society and the city as a part of the Sanford 250th Celebration. The artifacts will be on display in order to allow the public to photograph them. Subsequently, they will be turned over to the permanent protection of the Sanford/Springvale Historical Society.

The Sanford-Springvale Historical Museum is located at 505 Main St. in Springvale. The museum is handicapped accessible. The event is free of charge. All are welcome.
