STRATHAM The Rockingham Choral Society is welcoming new and returning singers for its spring concert. Rehearsals begin Tuesday, Jan. 8 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Cooperative Middle School, 100 Academic Way, Stratham. The major work for this concert will be "Les Sept Paroles du Christ en Croix" by Ceasar Franck. The group will also be performing several short selections by composers and arrangers K. Lee Scott, Mack Willberg, Marta Keen and Andre J. Thomas.

The Choral Society is under the direction of Dr. Alex T. Favazza, Jr., who was recently appointed director of choral activities at the University of New Hampshire. The group is accompanied by Ms. Jeannie Goodwin, well-known pianist and accompanist in the Seacoast area.

There will be three open rehearsals Jan. 8, 15, 22 when singers can check out the group. Regular rehearsals are held Tuesday evenings. Auditions for membership are required but no preparation is needed. Soloists are chosen from the membership. Dues are affordable and are waived for high school and college students.
