To the Editor:
On Friday, Dec. 10, more than 60 community members gathered at The Wiggly Bridge Distillery Barn to support the York Education Foundation at its third “Spirit of Giving” holiday fundraising event. YEF is an independent, non-profit organization made up of community volunteers who are committed to excellence in education. Its mission is to provide funding for innovative and challenging programs in York schools and to enrich the educational experience for all students. Since its inception 13 years ago, YEF has contributed more than $250,000 in grants to York school educators, administrators and employees.
This year’s “Spirit of Giving” raised more than $6,500, all of which will immediately be appropriated to fund new grants for the 2019-20 school year. YEF wants to thank the many local businesses who have once again stepped up and donated goods and services that were either raffled off or sold to the highest bidders at the silent auction. Without your support, YEF’s mission – and the missions of so many other deserving local non-profits – would not be achievable. Our sincere gratitude is extended to D.F. Richard, Eldredge Lumber, Kittery Trading Post, Liquid Dreams Surf Shops, Schmid Law Offices, Clark and Howell Law Offices, Seacoast Helicopters, York Driving School, Seacoast Brothers Butchers, Glow Bodyworks, The Lobster Cove Restaurant, The Salty Dog, The Dunes on the Waterfront Hotel, York Oil and Propane, Timberland, Grain Surfboards, Welch Oil, Woody’s Pizza, Daisy Jane, Shawnee Peak, Stonewall Kitchen, Harpoon CrossFit, and the Boston Celtics. Special thanks go to York 54 and The Wiggly Bridge Distillery Barn. Chef Jason once again delivered vast amounts of exceptional finger foods, and the Wood family not only provided a great location for this fun social event, but also donated funds from proceeds gathered that evening from its menu of unique libations.
Finally, we also wish to thank all of the folks who supported the foundation by attending and participating in the raffle and silent auction. As they say, “It takes a Village.”
