It's not the start anyone was hoping for but a young (only 5 seniors and 3 juniors) and relatively inexperienced Kennebunk/Wells boys ice hockey team is 0-3 after losses to Thornton (9-0), Gorham (8-0) and Greely (8-1).
Coach Sean Smith and his assistants welcomed the return of several key players this season including Holden Johnson (Kennebunk senior forward), Seth Batchelder (Wells senior forward), Walker Robinson (Kennebunk, senior defense), Jake Cyr (Kennebunk senior goalie), Joe Eremita (Wells junior defense), Harrison Briggs (Wells junior defense), Dean Church (Kennebunk sophomore forward) and Indigo Looper (Wells sophomore goalie).
Some key additions this year include Zach Jones (Kennebunk sophomore forward), Hunter Lachance (Kennebunk sophomore defense), Thomas Johnson (Kennebunk sophomore forward) and Ryan Johnson (Kennebunk freshman forward).
"Our goals are to improve as the season continues and I would like us to get back into the playoffs and possibly win a playoff game," said Coach Smith.
The team was scheduled to play at Cape Elizabeth yesterday (results were unavailable at press time) and Maranacook/Winthrop/Madison tomorrow afternoon.
