The Kennebunk High boys basketball team improved to 4-0 with a hard-fought 73-67 victory at Marshwood on Tuesday evening.
The Rams had a 22-10 lead after one quarter and they held that same 12-point advantage at the half (36-24) as the Hawks remained within striking distance.
Marshwood got a 10-point third quarter from Cullen Casey and he helped the hosts close the gap on the Rams, getting within 54-49 at the end of three periods.
The Hawks continued their second half surge and took a brief 61-60 lead (their only lead of the game) before the Rams regained pulled away in the final four minutes of play.
Kennebunk was led by a game-high 21 points from junior Kyle Pasieniuk who hit four 3-pointers – three of those long range shots shutting down a Marshwood scoring run.
Zack Sullivan added 20 points and Max Murray contributed 18 along with numerous key rebounds at the offensive and defensive ends of the floor.
Cam Lovejoy finished with 14 points and several highlight reel assists as he sent his teammates into the lane for easy baskets thanks to some nifty passes.
The Rams are scheduled to play at Cape tomorrow.
The Wells High school boys basketball team evened its record at 2-2 on the season following a 75-42 victory over Sacopee Valley on Tuesday at Ronco Gymnasium.
Tyler Bridge led the Warriors with 16 points, Gavyn Leighton scored 13 and Dylan Whitney added 10.
The Warriors also picked up a 69-53 win over Lake Region last Friday with Matt Sherburne having a game-high 30 points. Bridge contributed 12 points and Caleb Corey chipped in with 10.
The Warriors are scheduled to travel to Marshwood this evening.
