Celebrate New Year's Eve in Kennebunk

KENNEBUNK The 4th Annual New Years Eve Kennebunk (known as NYE KBK for short) will take place on Monday, Dec. 31 at various locations on Main Street in downtown Kennebunk. The events culminate in the Wild Blueberry Ball Drop from the Bell Tower of the First Parish Unitarian Universalist Church at midnight! The free event is sponsored by Nadeau Orthodontics; Graceful Recovery; Kennebunk Auto Center; Tracey Bricker, State Farm Agent; Salon Ninety Six; and Kennebunk Hannaford.

Founded in 2015 by volunteers from the town of Kennebunk, the Brick Store Museum, and the First Parish Unitarian Universalist Church, this is NYE KBKs fourth year creating a family-friendly event that brings the community together to celebrate the New Year. All events are open to the public free of charge.

Events are as follows:

First Parish Church: starting at 7 p.m., board games and hot chocolate inside; outdoor fire pits to enjoy the celebrations; and a first-ever NYE Cornhole Tournament! Please visit www.nyekbk.org to learn how to register your team.

Brick Store Museum: free admission to the galleries and exhibitions from 7 to 11 p.m.; with music and improve starting at 7 p.m. in the museums Program Center;

Waterhouse Center: ice skating throughout the evening.

From the bell tower of the First Parish Church, an Early Bird Ball Drop will begin at 9 p.m. and the Wild Blueberry Ball Drop will ring in the New Year at midnight.

The Cornhole Tournament is new this year. Teams can signup online at www.nyekbk.org. Bags start flying at 7 p.m. on Dec. 31 at the First Parish Unitarian Universalist Church. This will be a 16-team, double-elimination tournament with a three-game guarantee. The cost is $40 per team (teams consist of two people).

Prizes will be awarded: First prize - $375 plus trophy; Second prize - $175 plus trophy; Third prize - $100 plus trophy; Fourth prize - gift certificate plus trophy; Fifth prize - gift certificate plus trophy; Sixth prize - trophy.

Proceeds from the Cornhole Tournament will be donated to the Morin family, who lost their Kennebunk home to a fire this week.
