PORTSMOUTH — The Rotary Club of Portsmouth announced the arrival of its 2018 holiday ornament. The 25th in its series featuring historic city landmarks, this year’s 24-carat gold-plated ornament honors the Prescott Park Formal Garden.
Only 500 of these limited edition ornaments were produced. Each is numbered and presented in a felt case embossed with the Rotary emblem and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. The ornament depicts the “Formal Garden” with its flowers, trees, winding walkways and three ornamental fountains.
Prescott Park owes its existence to the foresight and good will of Portsmouth sisters, Mary E. and Josie F. Prescott, who donated the land to the city in 1940.
The ornaments are $20 and available at the Chamber Collaborative of Greater Portsmouth, Piscataqua Savings Bank, Optima Bank & Trust at Pease International Tradeport and on Daniel Street, Discover Portsmouth and the Rotary Christmas tree sales at the Lafayette Plaza on Route 1. A limited number of past year’s ornaments are available. All proceeds from this and other Rotary fundraisers are granted to local charities and educational institutions.
