To the Editor:

The Kennebunk Parks and Recreation Department would like to express its appreciation to those who helped make our 35th Annual Christmas Tree Lighting a huge success. Once again, we celebrated in the Tibbetts Plaza on Main Street and it was wonderful to see a record number of folks having fun and ringing in this festive season.

It was wonderful to have the Brick Store Museum and the Kennebunk Free Library join us with their holiday programs.

We would like to thank the Kennebunk High School Chamber Choir which performed under the direction of Jesse Wakeman and the Kennebunk Elementary School Choir under the direction of Sarah Dugas and our wonderful emcee John Downing. Another big thanks goes to our corporate sponsors: Andrews Milligan Real Estate, Berkshire Hathaway Home Services, Boulangerie – A Proper Bakery, Camden National Bank, Found, Kennebunk-Kennebunkport-Arundel Chamber of Commerce, Kennebunk Savings Bank, People’s United Bank, York Hospital, Smithwick & Mariner’s Insurance, Smitty’s Cinema, and TD Bank for generously providing a variety of goodies and gifts.

Again this year, Santa hosted a skating party at the Waterhouse Center and was joined by “Kenny Bear” the Mascot. Thanks to Video Creations for donating their time and talents with the audio.

After which the public was invited to join in on the fun.

In order to make this a reality each year, we extend our gratitude to the crews of Kennebunk Light and Power District for their continuous work installing and maintaining all of the tree lights in our downtown. It goes without saying that the cooperation from the Kennebunk Police Department, Kennebunk Fire & Rescue and Kennebunk Department of Public Services is very important and appreciated.
