YORK – Painter Stan Moeller is inviting the public to a grand opening reception at his new 1,000-square-foot-plus studio in York, Maine, on Saturday, October 13, from 5 to 7 p.m. and Sunday, Oct. 14, from 2 to 4 p.m. Visitors can meet Moeller and view see his oil paintings inspired by his trips to Italy, France, Cuba and Monhegan, Maine. Visitors are also welcome by appointment at the studio.
Moeller, who worked out of The Mills at Salmon Falls for 17 years, designed his “dream studio” “with 25-foot ceilings and large north facing windows,” according to Moeller. "My studio is also a gallery, so people can come and see my work.” It stands alongside his home with scenic views of the Smelt Brook, a tributary of the York River.
Moeller’s oil paintings are exhibited throughout the United States and the world, and locally at the Todd Bonita Galleries, in Portsmouth and Ogunquit, Maine.
“(Stan) has inspired, taught and shared a generation of art lovers and makers. In my view, he is a relevant and important American painter who has something to say," Bonita said. "There is an undeniable freshness in the energy of his work. Evidence of his art hero’s is present; Sorolla, Sargent and his late friend and mentor, Don Stone.”
Moeller has just returned from teaching his annual painting workshop on Monhegan Island. He also organizes painting workshops in Italy and France, with the next planned for Tuscany in the spring of 2019.
The public is welcome to come and see the new space with more than 70 of his oil paintings on display. The newest paintings are being exhibited for the first time.
The Stan Moeller Art Studio and Gallery is located at 2 Colby Turner Lane, York. For information, contact Moeller at (207) 337-0714 or stanmoeller.com.
