YORK, Maine — York School Department Superintendent Lou Goscinski announced Eric Lawson, director of technology and libraries, and Tom Rup, technology coordinator for the School Department, have been asked to present at the Future Education Technology Conference (in Orlando, Florida in late January.

FETC is the second largest technology conference in the United States.

“Eric and Tom are recognized as leaders in the field of school technology and they have been asked to share their knowledge on a national stage,” Goscinski said.

According to FETC, “For nearly 40 years the conference has gathered the most dynamic and creative education professionals from around the world for an intensive, highly collaborative exploration of new technologies, best practices and pressing issues. Its impact has been felt by thousands of districts, schools, educators — and ultimately students.”

According to Goscinski, Lawson and Rup will be presenting on using virtual reality within the classroom, and share experiences they have had working with teachers and students on both guiding lessons using virtual and augmented reality as well as creating virtual reality tours.

“Being recognized and asked to speak at this conference is a huge honor for Eric and Tom as well as the York School Department,” Goscinski said. "I am extremely proud of these two professionals and know they will represent our school system well.”
