Gather to End Hunger Festival Aug. 11
The second annual Gather to End Hunger Festival is will take place at Applecrest Farm in Hampton from noon to 6 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 11. The Soggy Po' Boys, Hayley Jane and the Primates, and the Ryan Montbleau Band will perform. All proceeds from ticket sales will benefit Gather, formerly the Seacoast Family Food Pantry. Adult tickets are $25 online and $30 at the door. Kids’ tickets for kids aged 4-12 are $5, and kids under three get in free. In addition to Applecrest Farm's food and beverage service, there will be several food trucks on hand also. There will be a giant soccer ball-shapped bouncy house, face-painting and more in the Kid Zone. Free water stations will be available for those who bring water bottles. Bring a chair or blanket. Country Music Festival Aug. 12
The fourth annual New England Country Music Festival will take place this Sunday, Aug. 12 at Cisco Brewers Portsmouth (formerly Redhook Brewery) and will feature both new and returning artists, along with additional food options. On tap are musical artists are Chase Rice, Drake White, Michael Tyler, Mitchell Tenpenny, Timmy Brown, Annie Brobst and April Cushman. Hitchcock at the Hamilton house
Bring a blanket, chairs, and picnic to enjoy "The 39 Steps, Live Radio Play" by Joe Landry, Friday, Aug. 10, and Saturday, Aug. 11, 6 p.m., with a matinee performance, Sunday, Aug. 12, at 2 p.m., in the gardens at Historic New England’s Hamilton House. Inspired by Hitchcock's classic tale, "The 39 Steps" is presented by Radio Mystery Theatre, complete with period actors, vintage-style commercials, sound effects, and the twists and turns of this romantic thriller. Tickets are $8 for Historic New England members; $15, nonmember adults; $10, nonmember seniors; $5, children (ages 6-17), and children under 6 are admitted free. It's a big Hitchcock weekend at 3S, too
3S Artspace is hosting a Hitchcock Movie Marathon on Saturday, Aug. 11. Doors open at 11:30 a.m. and movies begin at noon. "Rear Window" is first, followed by "The Birds" at 2:10 p.m. and "Vertigo" at 4:25 p.m. Tickets are $7 per movie for members; $10, General Admission. You can purchase an all-day Marathon Pass for $20. Children 14 and under admitted free, must be accompanies by parent or guardian. Event is all ages and seated, with tables and couches available for you to stake out, and the popcorn is free. Other snacks and drinks available for purchase.
Marvin Gaye's music celebrated in Kittery
On Friday, Aug. 10th The Dance Hall in Kittery will present a live concert of Marvin Gaye’s Epic Soul Suite “What’s Going On?” Experience the sound of silky rhythm-and-blues, string-laden pop, gospel sensibilities, and jazz with a message of justice and spiritual redemption. Community block party to benefit SOS Recovery
ROCHESTER - Liberty Street, in front of the SOS Recovery Community Center in Rochester will be the site of a family friendly block party on Sunday, Aug.12 from noon to 4 p.m. during the “SOS Rocks The Block Party”, hosted by SOS Recover Community Organization. The event is being held to celebrate recovery from alcohol and substance misuse, and will feature information about area resources, as well as family fun, food, and games.
