PORTSMOUTH — The New Hampshire Department of Transportation announced the start of night work on the Spaulding Turnpike as part of the reconstruction of the turnpike between the Little Bay Bridge and the Dover toll plaza.

Nighttime construction operations will begin Sunday, Aug. 12 on the turnpike northbound between the Little Bay Bridge and Exit 6 to complete drainage installations. The work will continue until Wednesday, Aug. 22.

Lane closures will be utilized for traffic control through the work area. Normal nighttime work hours will be 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. Adverse weather conditions would extend the duration of this work.

The work is part of the Spaulding Turnpike improvement project in Newington and Dover. Severino Trucking Co. of Candia, is the prime contractor for the $67 million project, which is scheduled to be completed in October 2020.
