PORTSMOUTH Safe Harbor Recovery Center will hold a Recovery Fest and Cookout on Saturday from 3 to 6 p.m. at its 865 Islington St. location, a celebration of recovery and community progress.

The fest will celebrate the center's second anniversary, and will include stories of experience, strength and hope from people in long-term recovery. There will be grilling, music from local singer/songwriter Berger. This is a free family-friendly event, and children of all ages are welcome. Please bring a side dish to share; grill items and rolls will be provided.

Safe Harbor's Heather Blumenfeld said the fest is "really a member appreciation day." Two "fantastic" AA members will give speeches, she said. The festival will include an anniversary cake.

"It's really just to celebrate all people in recovery and to bring the community together," Blumenfeld said. "It's a really fun day."
