James Kennerley was recently appointed by the Mayor of Portland as the city’s 11th Municipal Organist. Hailed as “a great organist” displaying “phenomenal technique and sheer musicality” by Bloomberg News, he has crafted a special program for Friday, June 29 at 7 p.m. at the Church on the Cape in Cape Porpoise. Kennerley promises a “Star-spangled performance” for the Independence weekend concert.

Kennerley made his Carnegie Hall solo debut in 2016 with additional performances at Lincoln Center’s Alice Tully Hall and the Metropolitan Museum of Art. He has also performed at the Washington National Cathedral, Saint Patrick’s Cathedral, Royal Albert Hall, Westminster Abbey and other internationally renowned venues. He holds degrees from Cambridge Univesity and The Juilliard School.

His goal is to bring organ music to the people. With his entertaining British personality, his phenomenal technique and energetic musicality, the concert promises to be a memorable event.
