Macabaret this weekend   Join ACT ONE for loads of laughter and great music this weekend at the West End Studio Theatre in Portsmouth. Motorcycle show Oct. 1

PORTSMOUTH — Port City Mopeds, Papa Wolf Supply Co., and Iron and Air will host the Welcome East Community Motorcycle Show at 3S Artspace in Portsmouth on from 3 p.m. to midnight on Saturday, Oct. 1. Welcome East is a free, community-based event that will provide an opportunity for motorcyclists in New England to showcase their bikes to an audience of like-minded motorists, compete for awards and prizes from local shops, and partake in general motorcycle camaraderie. This year's venue has more space, food and drink services catered by Block Six, motorcycle art from local artists on display in the art gallery, and live music performances from local acts Harsh Armadillo and One Man Banned. Motorcyclists of all varieties are encouraged to submit applications to enter their bikes. The event coordinators are seeking all sorts of entries, including mopeds, scooters, trikes, motorcycles and other unworldly creations. The show is free and open to the public and there is no entry charge for contestants. David Shribman at UNH 

David Shribman, the executive editor of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, will deliver the UNH College of Liberal Arts John T. Holden Lecture, “The New Architecture of American Politics,” on Thursday, Sept. 29 at 5:30 p.m. in 115 Murkland Hall. A regular panelist on “Washington Week in Review” and “Meet the Press,” Shribman has shared his political insights for more than 30 years. The lecture is free and open to the public.

'Life With Pixels' celebrates imagination

"Life with Pixels" is a VFX / animation showcase and networking event at 3S Artspace on Thursday, Sept. 29 at 5:30 p.m. A group venture by multiple digital, video, and creative agencies in the Portsmouth area, the event features speakers from Fortland, Anchorline, Finish and KOI.
