There's a new scoreboard at Warrior Memorial Field and it is there courtesy of generous townspeople.
Wells High School administrators and the Wells community thanked some of the top donors at a dedication ceremony during halftime of Friday night's football game between Wells and Mountain Valley.
Superintendent Jim Daly and WHS Principal Eileen Sheehy stood at midfield where they hosted and honored the Forbes Family Foundation, Karen and Tim Darling, Joe Forbes and Matt Forbes, grandchildren Luke Darling, and Patrick, Maeve and Vander Forbes, Daniel and Carla Lafayette, electrician Robert Perry, landscaper Dean C. Ramsdell, Wells High School Athletic Boosters (represented by Judy Moody and Keeley Lambert) and Wells-Ogunquit Youth Football and Cheering Association (represented by Lancer McInnis).
A banner at the bottom of the new scoreboard was unveiled in honor of Mary and Vander Forbes Jr. who both assisted financially on many projects over the years.
The new scoreboard will be used for football, field hockey and baseball.
In addition, there is a new scoreboard in the outfield of the Wells High softball field that that will be used for junior high field hockey games this fall and softball games in the spring.
Both scoreboards were funded outside of the school district budget and without local tax dollars.
