Writing group in Sanford

Helen Rousseau will be leading a writing group at the Goodall Library on Thursdays from 5:15 to 7:15 p.m. beginning October 6. This will run for six weeks at no charge to participants. All levels of writing ability are welcome. This is not a class on how to write. The goal is to help us realize that writing can be a transformative experience. Those who keep journals understand this. A writing booklet will be provided with the prompts that will spur our writing. Just bring your favorite pen or pencil.

Rousseau was trained in the Amherst Writers and Artists Method and has led several writing groups. In an AWA workshop, there is no critiquing of each other’s work. When someone reads their writing, the emphasis for the other writers is on listening. We listen for what’s strong about the writing, what works. We support the writer’s voice and craft, allowing everyone to experiment and share without fear. For more information or to register, you may call Helen at 207-332-0045 or email at helen@helenrousseau.com
