Sixth annual artisan celebration, fair Dec. 8
This year’s sixth annual Artisan Celebration and Fair will be held at Wentworth Greenhouses, 141 Rollins Road in Rollinsford, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8. The fair will showcase the work of about 30 juried and invited artists from the states of Maine, New Hampshire and Massachusetts. The day-long arts and crafts fair is offered in addition to and separately from the ongoing series of winter craft markets also held at the Greenhouses throughout the winter. A variety of curated, high-quality crafts, representing some of the region’s best artisans will be offered for sale throughout the day. Those participating in this year’s Artisan Celebration and Fair include furniture maker Jeff Lind, potter Shana Brautigam of Rooted in Clay, Heather Crowley of Willow Road Watercolors, Terri Davis Fine Jewelry, Deirdre Donchain Fine Jewelry, Glynis Dixon Earth Metalworks, Diane Lois Paul, leather artisan, Asian style painter Bruce Iverson, Coppersmith Don Felix, Guilday Glass, Potter David Ernster, Folk Artist and Scherenshnitte Artists Perry and Claudia Hopf, Alex Kalish Glass, Maggie’s Farm Spoons, Patricia Woodbridge Miniature Cottages, Joyce LeBlanc Clothing, William Mitchell Serigraph Prints, leather artist Claire Renaud, Dysfunctional Spoons by Aaron Clapp, Dierdre Donchain Fine Jewelry, Kennebunk Basketry, Hand Felted Heirloom Hats by Carrie Cahill Mulligan, Daphne’s Jewelry Works, Wood Turnings by Cynthia Ellis, and pottery by Maureen and Steve Zoldak. Music will be provided by The Salt River Band, and food and refreshments by 45 Market Street Bakery and Café. The sixth annual Artisan Celebration and Fair will be open free to the public.
Seasonal music with Quintessence
Come listen to the sounds of Quintessence, a woodwind quintet, formed by the five principal players in a New Hampshire orchestra, at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 12, at Rye Public Library. Seventh annual Glenn Wixson Family Holiday Extravaganza
The seventh annual Glenn Wixson Family Holiday Extravaganza will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 12, at the Press Room, 77 Daniel St. in Portsmouth. “The Barefoot Guy,” Joel Glenn Wixson is taking a break from busking at his regular spot on the Vaughan Mall and going inside with some of his friends for this holiday song fest. The extravaganza is a family-friendly holiday celebration full of music and good cheer. So bring your Santa hat and your holiday spirit downtown and enjoy the music, and the other surprises the Glenn Wixson family has in store. Seacoast Wind Ensemble performs holiday concerts
The Seacoast Wind Ensemble will perform two holiday concerts in December: 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8 at the North Church in Portsmouth and 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9 at the Star Theatre in Kittery, Maine. SWE performs under the direction of Dr. Mark Stickney.
