The Portsmouth Symphony Orchestra Get Cozy chamber music series gets festive at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 22 with “Brassy Baroque Christmas” and PSO Brass Quintet at South Church in Portsmouth.

The PSO Brass Quintet will play an uplifting and audience-pleasing concert consisting of holiday favorites mixed with glorious baroque selection. The PSO Brass Quintet is composed of select brass players from the Portsmouth Symphony Orchestra including Adam Gallant and John Cardin, trumpets; Tracey Crain, horn; Mark Schneider, trombone; Jim Griswold, bass trombone and Crystal Carr, tuba.

The PSO Brass Quintet was founded by Adam Gallant in the fall of 2016 and is dedicated to performing serious brass chamber music at the highest level. The ensemble has performed recently on the Seacoast in Portsmouth, Newington, Durham, Kittery, Maine, and will be back in Portsmouth for this special performance.

The PSO’s Get Cozy monthly chamber music series will continue at 3 p.m. Jan. 13 with Quartet for the End of Time at The Dance Hall in Kittery, Maine. Subsequent performances will take place Feb. 10, March 10 and April 28.

Get Cozy chamber concert tickets for the December concert are $12 in advance or $15 at the door and children under 12 are free. Seating is limited and at-the-door tickets are not guaranteed to be available.

The Portsmouth Symphony Orchestra is committed to contributing high-quality symphonic music to the Seacoast community. Founded in 1997, the orchestra is made up of more than 65 local professionals, educators, dedicated amateurs and advanced students. The orchestra presents four main concerts each season at The Music Hall in Portsmouth, along with numerous Get Cozy with the PSO chamber music series, school concerts and other special performances throughout the year. The orchestra has performed at Carnegie Hall with Jane Seymour and was honored to accompany Grammy award-winning clarinetist Richard Stoltzman at the 2013 PARMA Music Festival.
